If I work in the cloud, can I use AirPrint?
Yes, but with a few conditions. This solution works locally, i.e. it requires a direct connection between your device and the printer via the same Wi-Fi or wired network. If your documents are stored in the cloud (Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, etc.), you must first open them on your device before printing. If the office IT infrastructure is completely secure and closed, can I still use the software?
It depends on the network configuration. Some companies block the protocol for security reasons. In this case, AirPrint may be limited in its use. An alternative is to use Xerox®
solutions, which enable secure printing while respecting corporate IT policies. This is an installation we carry out in collaboration with your company’s IT department.
Can I still use the Xerox driver for more settings?
Yes! Xerox drivers offer advanced features such as :
- Precise color adjustment,
- Double-sided printing,
- Paper type management,
- Access to specific options on Xerox MFPs (e.g. finishing, stapling, punching). If you need more control over your printing, we recommend installing the dedicated Xerox driver for macOS.
What are AirPrint’s limitations?
It is designed for quick and easy use, but has some limitations on peripherals:
- Volume: The protocol is suitable for routine printing, but for high-volume printing, management software such as Xerox Print Management is preferable.
- Document types : It’s possible to print color PDF files, color images and Word Office, but some specific formats (e.g. PostScript, advanced graphics files) may require Xerox
How does AirPrint affect the quality and speed of Xerox MFPs compared with traditional drivers?
Print quality: AirPrint offers standard quality without the possibility of advanced adjustment. It is integrated into peripherals with the Xerox driver, which you need to install, so you can fine-tune resolution, total color management (and black & white) and finishing.
Speed: The function is optimized for fast, setup-free printing, but may be slightly slower than via a driver, especially for complex color documents requiring specific processing.
Are monthly impressions counted using Apple technology?
Yes, the Xerox multifunction machine counts down the number of color and black & white copies.
Are there any specific tools or applications for monitoring or managing print jobs with the software?
No, however, there are alternatives:
- Xerox Workplace: Manage, track and secure print
- Xerox Print Management: Ideal for large companies looking to control costs and optimize their infrastructure.
