As a player in the printing sector, we are often one of the preferred targets of associations campaigning for sustainable development. Today, we’re proud to be able to respond constructively to this criticism. As a Xerox dealer, we have solid arguments to demonstrate our commitment to the environment.
Over the years, together with Xerox, we have put in place concrete solutions to promote sustainable development, with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality by 2040 through the “Zero Emissions” initiative. We also attach the utmost importance to customer care and satisfaction. Contrary to common practice, which is often limited to the installation of machines, we offer comprehensive, personalized support to ensure an optimal experience.
D&O and our eco-friendly solutions
At D&O Partners, we make it a practice to ask our customers for their specific requirements when installing our machines. We are committed to providing high quality service to ensure customer satisfaction. Where necessary, we customize machine settings to suit specific program use.
To avoid unnecessary printing, we often recommend that large teams install the deferred or hold printing feature. This option allows you to launch a print job from your PC, tablet or phone, but store it in the printer’s memory. Once in front of the device, you can finalize the print by entering a PIN code or selecting the held file. This considerably reduces the number of unnecessary prints and, consequently, waste.
We have also recently adopted digital invoicing, a step forward in preserving our planet while making life easier for our customers. We all know that paper invoices often end up in the garbage can, and we want to avoid this by offering a more sustainable and practical solution.
The Xerox: sustainable printing machine
Our products are designed with sustainability in mind. Our printers and consumables are both reusable and recycled. The manufacture of our toners is also eco-responsible, with ink that is harmless neither to you nor to the environment. This considerably reduces our ecological impact compared with previous years. You can order free ecoboxes, which recycle all parts that are no longer in use. The process ends with the reuse of these parts once they have been recycled.
Our technical department has also implemented innovative solutions, such as maintenance via augmented reality, to reduce CO2 emissions. Our technicians prefer a rapid 10-minute remote intervention to try and solve problems without having to travel, which has significantly reduced our travel.
None of our machines use ink. Printing on paper has a negative impact on the environment and is therefore less responsible.
In terms of energy consumption, our machines in active mode operate in the 300-1000 watt range, with the most advanced technologies able to drop below 300 watts. By way of comparison, in the 2000s, Xerox printers consumed between 700 and 2000 watts. In standby mode, our machines consume just one watt.
Applications: the default tool for optimizing sustainable printer use by teams
At Xerox, we have developed innovative platforms such as Xerox Workplace Cloud Reporting and Analytics, enabling companies to better control their ink and paper usage to promote more sustainable printing. Thanks to this tool, environmental footprint management becomes easier to measure and optimize.
In concrete terms, a designated administrator can monitor machine usage, analyze print data and take action to improve practices within teams. This not only reduces costs, but also proactively minimizes impact. Our XPPS portal supports the designated administrator, giving him or her an overview of the entire fleet.
Towards zero emissions!
We have set up a remote intervention process using CareAR technology, with the aim of reducing the need for our technicians to travel. The majority of breakdowns can be resolved in less than 10 minutes via a simple video call.
The CareAR Instruct uses 3D visualization technology to enable our technical team to provide you with clear, precise instructions. The technician can, for example, circle elements on your screen in real time to guide the user through the problem.
We’re also constantly working on improving the energy efficiency of our equipment, as well as the responsible use of raw materials. We want to produce sustainable prints. Our aim is to reuse post-consumer materials in our products. That’s why we use solid materials.
We also make every effort to minimize the use of hazardous substances. In particular, we focus on the reduction of chemicals in Xerox equipment. A team of specialized toxicologists rigorously controls all materials to ensure that levels of harmful substances remain below regulatory thresholds.
Digitalization at the heart of our great responsible change
We are constantly adapting our technology to offer you optimum use of your printers, while reducing our environmental impact, notably by using less paper. We have a veritable Swiss army knife of ecological solutions. For example, instead of printing your report to read it, you can use our application to listen to it. This considerably reduces paper consumption and thus minimizes the impact on the environment.
Another paper-saving solution is automatic transcription. Thanks to integrated artificial intelligence, you can now transform your handwritten notes into Word documents, making them easier to manage digitally.
We also offer the option of anonymized printing, which protects sensitive information by masking certain data on printed documents. We also do our utmost to help you protect your company’s information.
You’ll find all these applications in the Xerox App Gallery and through ConnectKey technology. To find out more, visit : Revolutionize your printing with Xerox App Gallery & ConnectKey.
Ecological certification
We are also committed to being transparent with those who place their trust in us. We don’t just work with companies, but first and foremost with the people who make them up. That’s why we make a point of being transparent about the durability and quality of our products. All our products have been designed to comply with environmental standards, and are certified accordingly. The technology integrated into our machines is eco-responsible and meets the most stringent sustainability requirements.
Charte Energy Star
We’ve been an Energy Star partner for over 30 years. To date, 500 of our products have been certified to this standard, and today all our appliances, without exception, meet these criteria. One example of our commitment to reducing energy consumption is the B315 model, which consumes 20% less electricity than its predecessor.
Ecolabel certification:
Ecolabel certification is at the heart of our approach to sustainability. We use rigorous criteria, such as those of the EPEAT (Electronic Products Environmental Assessment Tool), to ensure that our machines meet the highest environmental standards. This certification covers the entire lifecycle of electronic products, from design to end-of-life, including repairability, reuse, recycling, and energy consumption. Since 2014, all our machines have been EPEAT Silver or Gold certified, reflecting our commitment to reducing the environmental impact of our machines.
In addition to the EPEAT Ecolabel, we have also certified almost 50 products to the strict criteria of the German Federal Government’s Blue Angel Ecolabel. We continue to improve our products to meet ever more stringent requirements in terms of material selection, chemical emissions and energy consumption. Thanks to these certifications, our customers can rest assured that our products are not only high-performance, but also environmentally friendly.
